ChanceTV, in an inspiring departure from his usual, on camera interviews, stepped into the role of producer and partnered with RESCUE DOGS ROCK NYC to create, “Furry, Fashionable & Fabulous.” This Dog Fashion Show, transcended the usual glitz and glamour of the runway, embedding a profound message of compassion and a call to action into the fabric of the evening.
This unique event, turned the spotlight onto a critical issue: animal rescue and welfare. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC is a foster based medical rescue saving animals in 20 states. Jackie O’Sullivan and Stacey Silverstein co-founded Rescue Dogs Rock NYC in early 2015 with the mission of helping the neediest and medically urgent dogs. This is why at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, they don’t just save the easy ones; they focus on saving the more difficult, the most urgent, critically injured and expensive dogs to save. Why? Because there are too many companion animals with medical and emotional needs that have been victims of cruelty, abuse and neglect that will never leave the shelter alive due to their needs. All too often because of the funding & long-term commitment involved in rescuing them. Shelters do not have funds to address these challenging cases. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC has saved more than 9,700 pups, while spending about $15,000,000 on their care. They are a recognized 501(c)(3) NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION, which exists solely on donations and rely primarily on fundraising to help animals in need.
In 2019 they acquired their first rescue and rehabilitation center in Suffolk County on Long Island giving a home for dogs in need. This allowed them to save many more needy and deserving dogs. The center sits on half an acre and allows indoor/outdoor kennels and has lots of outdoor space. That is the good news and why we chose this particular property. The bad news is the center was in complete disrepair and had nothing done to it in probably 30 years. It really needed to be gutted and rebuilt. We want it to be a comfortable oasis for these dogs who have already been through so much. Covid shut down all efforts for us to start renovations and post covid has doubled the price in building materials/repairs.
Their new rescue center will cost $2,000,000 to get where it needs to be so that they can start welcoming in new dogs. They are so close but still need another $325,000 to see a “Grand Opening.” This has been 5 long years in the making, so they are very excited to be this close but they can’t do it without the help of their supporters. This has been an enormous undertaking but the pups are so worth it!
