Adelaide’s underground Salon and Apothecary: Awaken your Senses

A Prohibition-style Speakeasy has taken over the underground spot beneath LouLou French bistro in Chelsea, and we are endlessly curious: Adelaide’s Salon. Laden with palatably curated cocktails, light bites, live music, and performances, amid vaudeville, enter the soda pop door downstairs to the 1920’s underground… and prepare to be delighted.

Soir de Paris

Conceptualized and hosted by NYC event producer and divine fashionista himself Olivur Yu, expect top notch costume-merriment, magic shows, singing performances. We’re talking sequins, fur laden accessories, watermelon caps, face paint, corsets, boas, garter belts… dress code is tight, so fashion-up accordingly! Weekly salons like ‘Alchemy and Illusions’ starring magician Greg Dubin ‘master of illusions,’ whimsical performers, and instrumental performances serenade those dining-in or mingling about. Reservations are of course encouraged and lay at the discretion of the Perfumer and High Priestess.

The salon, apothecary, and perfumery is inspired by Isabella Bird, ‘Adelaide’. A 19th century Parisian, world traveler and nomad who endlessly pursued knowledge and manifestation of holistic remedies, elixirs, and potions to cure her interminably ailing self. Unable to locate cures within the confines of western medicines, she reached far into the recesses of various culture’s wellness history, divinations, and potential, thanks to magical encounters with experienced herbalists and botanists. A High Priestess in essence, Adelaide inspired the tactile experience.

The mysterious enclave boasts with “multi-sensory” subterranean adventure through her conquests of the divine. Handcrafted cocktails like “Alchem and Desire”, “Chasing the Dragon”, “Potion for Youth”, “Money for the Honey” feature a variety of superfood ingredients, such as pomegranate, hibiscus, homemade green juice, moringa, spirulina, shrubs, manuka honey. Spruced up with the likes of CBD, bitters, Bacardi, Patron, gin, sparkling wine, and more, guests will heal, feel, and intoxicate. Decadence seeps into the menu naturally anchored with sumptuous meats and royal staples: Foie Gras, duck confit, lamb chops, baked camembert, octopus, merguez…herbally infused and florally ornamented of course.
